Why do I need a filter?
(Download K9 Web Filter for Free)

Children are sponges and soak up everything around them. They look to you as a parent for help and guidance. A pro-active stance on media protection not only puts up a safety net to allow your children to surf the web without worrying, but stands as a symbol that you are looking out for their well-being.

The K9 Web Protection Filter

We have found that the K9 Web Protection filter to be the most user-friendly filter. I also has great features like time restrictions, google safe search, and an easy to use online activity log. The best part is that it''s free!

Filter Setup and Settings

  1. Go to www.k9webprotection.com,
and click "Download K9 Today for Free". Fill out the form and click submit.

  2. Go to your email and find the email that K9 sent. Follow the setup directions. (Don't forget to write down your password and put it in a safe place.)

  3. Click on the K9 Icon that is now on your desktop and click on Setup.

    Suggested Settings
    :

    • Leave the Protection Level at default or high.

    • Under Time Restrictions block out late night hours and times parents are not at home.

    • Enable Time out settings.

    • Make sure google safe search is check marked.

Periodically check the Internet Activity log. The activity log can be found by clicking on the K9 Icon on your desktop and then clicking "Activity Log". Off limits websites are coded in red. (Don't be alarmed if there are a few red sites: not all of them are bad.)

V-Chip or TV Filter Setup

TV is no longer the controlled environment it was a few years ago. Even so-called family programming can stray to edges of sexual, violent and blasphemous content. The V-Chip (violence chip) is a filering device that has been placed in every television over size since date. It will only take you a few minutes to set up.

  1. In your TV menu, navigate to "Parental Controls" or "V-Chip".

  2. Next enter the 4-digit V-Chip password found in the TV Manufacturer's Guide.

  3. If you don't have the guide, try these default codes: 0000, 1111, 1234, 9999.

  4. Suggested Settings:
We suggest blocking TV 14, TV MA and TV NR. (Even teen ratings can have explicit content.)
