Parental
involvement is the key to keeping kids safe online.
You can install a filter, monitor your child's online activity,
and even try to keep them off the Internet, but none of these tactics
are as effective as engaging them in conversation about what they're
doing online.
Here are some pointers:
- Talk with your kids on a regular basis about their
Internet activities.
- If they tell you about a bad experience, don't overreact
or blame the victim. Listen carefully and appreciate that
they're coming forward.
- :Also talk about other risks than porn and predators,
things like cyber bullying, net addiction and commercial
exploitation.
